A gardener named Gowtham Rajbangshi, 44, has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in a Bowenpally colony park last December. The XII Additional Sessions Court in Nampally gave the verdict, ordering rigorous imprisonment for life, which means he will spend his natural life in jail. On December 3, Gowtham took the girl to a secluded area in the park where he assaulted her. The crime was revealed when the child told her mother on December 11. The father then reported the case to the police. During the investigation, police found that Gowtham had also assaulted a nine-year-old girl. Karkhana Police arrested Gowtham soon after the complaint. They collected strong scientific, medical, and documentary evidence and filed a detailed charge sheet. The prosecution presented the case under the POCSO Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Judge T. Anitha delivered the judgment after a thorough trial and convicted Gowtham for his crimes.
