The sky stayed cloudy until evening before brief showers began. Heavy rain is forecast for Nindra, Vijayapuram, Nagari, Karveti Nagaram, and Srirangarajapuram mandals. Other areas in Chittoor expect moderate rain on Sunday. Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar has set revenue and police teams on alert. They will watch low-lying areas and weak causeways in Nagari division. Irrigation officials are monitoring the Krishnapuram reservoir near Karveti Nagaram for rising water. Alerts are active for low-lying sites along the Kusasthali river in Nagari and the Neeva river in Chittoor. In Annamayya’s Madanapalle and Rajampeta divisions, the weather worries horticulture farmers who fear harm to tomato and banana crops.
