A tragic accident on Mailardevpally road in the early hours of Saturday claimed the life of 29-year-old labourer Mohammad Kamaluddin. A speeding goods carrier crashed into a stationary gravel-laden lorry around 2:30 a.m. Kamaluddin, a Kishanbagh resident, was seriously hurt and died at Osmania General Hospital. The lorry was reversing near Babul Reddy Nagar petrol pump when the goods carrier, registered TS 12 UC 3416, rammed it from behind. The goods carrier driver Shahrukh Khan, 32, and passengers Jalaluddin Ansari, 28, and Hasmuddin, 27, all from Jalpally, suffered minor injuries. They received first aid and were taken into custody for investigation. Mailardevpally Inspector P. Narender said, "As it attempted a brief reverse manoeuvre from the extreme left of the road, the goods carrier crashed into it from behind." The cleaner guiding the lorry driver escaped without injury. Authorities have registered a case and are probing the incident.
