AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal has slammed the LDF government and Kerala's Chief Minister for aiding the Centre in covering major corruption scams and pushing political and communal agendas. He said, "When the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] itself comes forward to oppose the Labour Codes, they should show at least an iota of honesty. Because, it is the CPI(M) which drafted the Labour Codes which are anti-working class. Whose interests is the CPI(M) protecting?" Venugopal also accused the State government of failing to blacklist companies violating safety rules in national highway projects. "The government is covering up the massive corruption involved in NH construction works," he said. Addressing reports of a rift in Karnataka's leadership, Venugopal stated these were untrue. "Chief Minister Siddaramiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Sivakumar enjoyed a very cordial relationship. This morning, they both had breakfast together. Yet the media chooses not to see it," he said. He sharply criticised the Modi government, saying it compromised national interests for political gains. On the Bihar election, Venugopal referred to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee's reports of corruption and irregularities. He claimed, "The Election Commission had been turned into an institution to help BJP win elections." He highlighted voter suppression and said, "The voting rights of ordinary citizens are being denied and only the wealthy can win elections." He further noted that money transfers to voters' accounts just days before polling were "unheard of." Venugopal called the National Democratic Alliance's Bihar win a result of weakening democracy. The Congress has gathered five crore signatures opposing the biased Election Commission, to be showcased at a mega rally in Delhi on December 14.
