A petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court against the use of 'bouncers' at the Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple in Thripunithura during the Vrischikotsavam festival. Devotee N. Prakash stated that in past years, police and volunteers controlled the large crowds. However, from November 22 to 25, the Cochin Devaswom Board hired 15 bouncers, saying there were not enough police personnel. Prakash objected to the men wearing T-shirts labelled 'bouncer', a role usually linked with bar security. He said, "the engagement of such individuals, especially within the precincts of a temple to manage and direct devotees, was wholly inappropriate and fundamentally incompatible with the sanctity and cultural ethos of the temple environment." The move has raised questions about preserving the temple’s sacred atmosphere. The petition awaits a court hearing.
