Man Sentenced to Life for Murdering Elderly Woman in Kesavadasapuram

A court in Kesavadasapuram sentenced Adam Ali, 25, to life imprisonment on Saturday for murdering an elderly woman. Additional District and Sessions Judge Anas imposed a fine of ₹90,000 on Ali, a resident of West Bengal.
The court found Ali guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including murder (302), house trespass (449), attempted robbery (393), robbery with attempt to cause death (397), and causing disappearance of evidence (201).
After the guilty verdict, Ali tried to flee from the courtroom. Police officers and lawyers stopped him inside the court premises. He was then taken to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail at Poojapura.
The prosecution said Adam Ali worked at a construction site near the home of 68-year-old Manorama. On August 7, 2022, Ali strangled and stabbed Manorama to death during a robbery attempt. He then dumped her body in a well.
Following the crime, Ali tried to escape but was arrested at Thampanoor railway station.
The trial examined 42 witnesses, 80 documents, and 20 material objects as evidence, according to the prosecution.
The sentencing brings justice to the tragic killing that shocked Kesavadasapuram.
