West Bengal Governor, C V Anand Bose, submitted a sealed report to the Supreme Court outlining the reasons for declining the state government's suggestions for appointing 17 vice-chancellors to universities. The court requested former CJI U U Lalit to review the material on the names proposed for the 17 universities. The matter is scheduled for further hearing to ascertain Lalit's availability. The appointment recommendations for major universities, such as Calcutta University and Jadavpur University, are currently on hold, while those for smaller universities have been approved.
