According to a senior IOCL official, the plant refills approximately 45,000–50,000 LPG cylinders daily, catering to the demand in Kolkata and its surrounding regions. This comes in the midst of recent protests where demonstrators released LPG from dozens of cylinders at the plant. Around 90 people were arrested in connection to the clashes that ensued. The situation highlighted the importance of streamlining safety measures and addressing grievances through dialogue.
