A tragic incident unfolded in Pooniwal village of Punjab's Patiala district, where a couple's misunderstanding led to a double suicide, leaving their three children orphaned. Gurmeet Singh, 42, took his own life without knowing that his wife, Manpreet Kaur, had already passed away by suicide days earlier. The couple, amidst marital troubles, had a misunderstanding that escalated. Manpreet left home with their two daughters, aged 10 and 20, and a 17-year-old son after a quarrel on June 29. She drove them to Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup in Fatehgarh Sahib, asking them to go ahead on a two-wheeler while she followed on foot, which she never did. On July 3, Gurmeet was found hanging at home, and the police revealed that Manpreet's body was recovered two days earlier from Bhakra canal.
