The Join Committee of Trade Unions called for a nationwide general strike on July 9 to protest against the 'anti-worker' policies of the State and Central Government. Despite limited impact on daily life in Mysuru, the rally aimed to draw attention to issues such as the abrogation of the four labour codes introduced by the Centre. These codes have been criticized by trade unions for disregarding workers' interests and reducing their bargaining power. Leaders from various trade unions and activists marched through Mysuru, demanding higher minimum wages, an end to labor outsourcing, and better social security for unorganized sector workers. Additionally, calls were made to revoke amendments that could harm farmers and agriculture. While the strike did not significantly affect industrial production in Mysuru, it underscored the discontent among trade unions towards government policies.
