Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently inaugurated a pilot project worth ₹8.07 crore in Shalimar Bagh to replace overhead electricity wires with underground cables. The project aims to improve the safety of citizens and enhance the visual appeal of the Capital. The initiative involves the removal of 5 km of overhead HT and LT wires and their replacement with 10 km of underground LT (440V) and 1.2 km of HT (11KV) network. This upgrade signifies a step towards making the energy infrastructure in Delhi safer and more organized. A budget of ₹100 crore was designated earlier this year to bolster the power infrastructure in the city. Gupta stated that this project is just the beginning and plans are underway to extend it to other parts of Delhi. An additional ₹100 crore has been allocated for the gradual rollout across various areas of the Capital.
