NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a stern stand against Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) by issuing a show cause notice. The notice questions why disciplinary or legal action, including revoking the university status and expansion restrictions, should not be taken against KIIT. This action follows the tragic suicides of two students earlier this year on February 16 and May 1. The show cause notice is based on the findings and recommendations provided by a fact-finding committee constituted by the UGC to investigate these unfortunate deaths.
