Google has terminated thousands of Youtube accounts and channels posting content that possibly originated from coordinated networks of hostile state operations and were intended to influence watchers’ views on key geopolitical issues. The internet giant noted in a bulletin that it terminated 2,598 YouTube channels and blocked one domain from appearing on Google News surfaces and Discover. This action is related to coordinated influence operations linked to the People’s Republic of China, involving content in Chinese and English about China and US foreign affairs. In the same month, U.S. news outlet CNBC reported that YouTube removed around 11,000 channels and other accounts connected to state-linked propaganda campaigns from countries including China and Russia. This continuous effort highlights Google's commitment to combating such content.
