Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reached out to the central government for approvals regarding significant financial loans aimed at bolstering infrastructure across the state. During a recent meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Fadnavis made a compelling case for financing totaling Rs 8,651 crore from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This funding specifically targets the development of concrete roads in rural villages, each having a minimum population of 1,000 residents. Additionally, Fadnavis highlighted the urgent need for Rs 4,326 crore to address the challenges posed by rising sea levels, a pressing issue impacting many coastal areas within Maharashtra. The third major component of Fadnavis's proposal pertains to sewage processing, aiming to treat wastewater for industrial use. This initiative also calls for another Rs 4,326 crore, underlining the extensive financial requirements for clean water and effective waste management solutions. Furthermore, as part of enhancing the state's rural infrastructure, the CM has submitted a proposal to the Union Ministry of Rural Development seeking funding to construct 14,000 kilometers of new roads throughout Maharashtra. In addition to meeting with Sitharaman, Fadnavis engaged in a brief discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Parliament House, a meeting that lasted approximately 25 minutes.
