Kargil Vijay Diwas in 2025 was commemorated at the Golden Katar Division War Memorial on Saturday, bringing together military personnel, veterans, and the community to honor the sacrifices made during the Kargil War. The event was led by Major General Gaurav Bagga, the General Officer Commanding 11 RAPID (H), who recognized the immense contributions of war widows and veterans alike in a heartfelt ceremony. Among the attendees were 22 veterans and 12 war widows, underscoring the importance of remembering those who have given their lives for the nation. The solemn event also saw the participation of 100 NCC cadets, 50 APS students, and other military officers, demonstrating a collective respect for the Kargil heroes. Earlier in the day, the Kargil Vijay Diwas Run engaged over 5,000 participants, showcasing two race categories: 10 km and 5 km. Both races were staged inside the military base, highlighting community involvement and enthusiasm for the occasion. Brigadier Rajesh Kumar, Brigade Commander of 85 Brigade in Gandhinagar, expressed his pride in the overwhelming turnout for the run. He stated, “The overwhelming participation in today’s run is a testament to the nation’s unwavering respect for our Kargil heroes. The Kargil Vijay Diwas Run is more than a sporting event—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers.” This annual celebration not only honors the memories of those who sacrificed their lives but also serves to educate younger generations about the values of bravery and patriotism. The Kargil Vijay Diwas is an important reminder of the unity and resilience displayed by India during the Kargil War in 1999, where brave soldiers fought valiantly against hostile forces at high altitudes. Participants from various walks of life came together for this event, reflecting a collective honor and respect towards the memories of the soldiers who fought and died for their country. The outpouring of support during the Kargil Vijay Diwas Run is a reflection of the pride held by every Indian citizen for the sacrifices made during one of the nation’s most challenging conflicts. These types of events foster a sense of community and remembrance, while also engaging youth in activities that promote physical fitness and national pride. The intertwining of sports and remembrance at the Kargil Vijay Diwas Run bridges the gap between honoring the past and inspiring future generations to uphold the values exemplified by the soldiers. The celebration at Golden Katar Division War Memorial ended on a hopeful note, looking forward to more events that will continue to honor not only the Kargil heroes but also educate the public about the significance of their sacrifices. The success of this year’s event establishes it as a beloved ritual that strengthens the bonds of remembrance and appreciation across the nation.
