An electrical overload sparked a devastating fire at a residence in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, on a tragic Sunday afternoon. The inferno took the lives of Natrajan, a 74-year-old lawyer, and his wife Thangam, 68. The couple's son, a chartered accountant, was out with his family when the fire erupted. Despite efforts to contain the blaze, it spread rapidly due to the heavily wood-paneled room. The medical assistant, Saraswathi, alerted the family and managed to escape with the couple's grandson, Shravan. Tragically, Natrajan and Thangam were unable to flee in time and succumbed to the flames. Saraswathi sustained injuries in the process. The Valasaravakkam police have launched an investigation into the incident, while Fire and Rescue Services personnel extinguished the fire and recovered the bodies. The community mourns the loss of the elderly couple and awaits further updates on the case.
