Hold your drinks, folks, because a juicy legal battle is brewing in the beverage world! On Wednesday, Parle Agro shook things up by moving the Delhi High Court to stop PepsiCo India Holdings from using the word 'Fizz' on the packaging of its 7Up cold drink. Why? Parle Agro says the word 'Fizz' looks too much like its own registered trademark 'Appy Fizz' – a brand they made famous since 2005 with their sparkling apple juice delight. Parle Agro’s lawyer, senior counsel Chander M Lall, told the court that 'Fizz' isn’t just a word but the heart and soul of their popular Appy Fizz drink. Over time, they've even launched other fizzy hits like 'Frooti Fizz', 'Grappo Fizz', and 'B-Fizz', proving how loved this bubbly branding has become. But trouble bubbled up when Parle found in July that PepsiCo had started highlighting 'Fizz' on 7Up’s packaging. Mr. Lall argued that Pepsi’s stylish use of 'Fizz' is a copycat move, designed to confuse shoppers and steal some of Parle’s sparkle. It gets sharper! Earlier, PepsiCo had used 'Extra Fizz' just as a small tag beside the big 7Up name. But now, they've shrunk the 7Up logo and pumped up 'Fizz' to the star of the show. Parle Agro believes this is no accident, but a clever plan to ride on Appy Fizz’s red carpet of goodwill, catching customers unaware. PepsiCo fired back through their senior counsel, Dayan Krishnan, who said they haven’t even been officially told about the lawsuit yet. He argued that 'Fizz' is just a common word used to describe any soda and shouldn’t belong to Parle alone. So, who will win this fizzing face-off? The Delhi High Court is set to hear the case on Monday, and all eyes will be on the courtroom as these two giants fight over a little word that means a lot!
