The mystery surrounding baby Emmanuel Haro took a dark turn as both his parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro, were arrested for murder at their home in Cabazon, California. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department made this startling announcement on Friday morning, shocking the community and fueling the ongoing search for the missing 7-month-old. Emmanuel had vanished from the parking lot of a Big 5 sporting goods store in Yucaipa on August 14, when his mother, Rebecca, said a stranger attacked her while she was changing his diaper. Rebecca reported she was knocked unconscious, and when she woke up, little Emmanuel was gone. However, police soon voiced doubts after they found "inconsistencies" in Rebecca's story. The sheriff's department revealed on social media that both Jake and Rebecca Haro were arrested on suspicion of murder at their home about 90 miles east of Los Angeles. Despite the grim development, authorities said the search for Emmanuel is still ongoing. Earlier, a vehicle belonging to Jake Haro was also seized, and police conducted a thorough operation at their residence in Cabazon, near Palm Springs. The couple has another child, aged 2, who has been placed in the care of Riverside County Child Protective Services amid these troubling events. The department also shared that while some neighbors reported a fire at a property close to the H aro family home, investigators have found no evidence linking it to Emmanuel's disappearance. Adding more spice to this tense case, Jake Haro has a criminal history including a 2021 conviction for cruelty to a child and a 2024 conviction for possession of a handgun as a felon. Rebecca Haro was not cooperative with the police during questioning after the initial reports. The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department urges anyone with information to come forward by calling 909-387-8313. Meanwhile, the community waits with bated breath for answers in the hope that baby Emmanuel will be found safe and sound.
