India and Pakistan have decided to uphold the confidence-building steps initiated by their top military officials to ease tensions sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, served as a catalyst for the conflict. Following four days of intense cross-border drone and missile attacks, the two nations agreed on May 10 to mitigate the situation. India took the first diplomatic step by targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir using precise cruise missiles and glide bombs. In response, Pakistan, known for harboring terrorists and previously sheltering Osama bin Laden, retaliated by launching drone and rocket strikes on Indian civilian areas and military installations. India counteracted by targeting multiple air bases and strategic military assets in Pakistan and successfully intercepting most of the drones and rockets launched by Pakistan, which included Turkish-made armed drones. A source confirmed that both countries have agreed to enhance the ongoing confidence-building measures to lower alert levels. The decision to continue these measures follows a discussion between Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai and Major General Kashif Abdullah of Pakistan. India's Operation Sindoor underscores a strategic shift by targeting terrorists in Pakistan preemptively if they pose a threat to Indian citizens.
