LUCKNOW: Once a city that few investors noticed, Gorakhpur is now blazing like a bright star on India's industrial map. Thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's smart policies, this city is buzzing with business energy. How did this magic happen? Simple! The government created easy rules, gave great incentives, and improved road, rail, and air links. The Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has played a massive role. In this financial year alone, it handed out a record 182 acres of land for 54 new business units. This move is attracting a whopping Rs 5,800 crore in investments and creating nearly 8,500 new jobs! Over the last five years, GIDA got proposals worth Rs 9,445 crore, sparking around 23,000 jobs. Big names like PepsiCo, Keyan Distillery, Gyan Dairy, Technoplast, Central Warehousing Corporation, Kapila Agro Industry, and APL Apollo Tubes are already rocking Gorakhpur’s industrial scene. The Adani Group’s Ambuja Cement and Coca-Cola partner Amrit Bottlers have also grabbed land for new factories. Not stopping here, giants like Reliance Consumer Products Limited and Shree Cements have shown keen interest. Their teams recently scouted GIDA sites to check possible investments. To keep up with this exciting demand, GIDA is expanding its land bank and developing the Dhuriapar Industrial Township in southern Gorakhpur. Two big projects have already landed there! “Under the Chief Minister's guidance, Gorakhpur has built a strong ecosystem for investment. Land is being provided as per investor preference, and industrial interest is rising steadily,” said Anuj Malik, CEO of GIDA. With world-class connectivity through roads, railways, and air travel, Gorakhpur - which earlier struggled even to woo local investors - is rapidly growing into a prime industrial hotspot. Looking ahead to the financial year 2025-26, big investments are on the horizon. Leading the pack is Shreyash Distilleries, planning to invest Rs 2,667 crore. Ambuja Cement of the Adani Group is next with Rs 1,400 crore. Amrit Bottlers is ready to put Rs 800 crore, and Keyan Distilleries will add Rs 600 crore. Even pharmaceuticals are joining in with Vision Parental’s Rs 100 crore proposal. More exciting plans include Reliance CPL’s Rs 1,000 crore, Shree Cements’ Rs 500 crore, Lifecare Hospitals’ Rs 500 crore, ESIC’s Rs 150 crore, and Delhi Public School eyeing Rs 50 crore. This shows that industrial growth and healthcare development are both speeding up in Gorakhpur. From being overlooked to becoming a powerhouse, Gorakhpur is dancing to the tune of progress under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. Is this the new shining star of India’s industry? Watch this space!
