BSE Index Services, fully owned by the Bombay Stock Exchange, has launched a sparkling new tool—the BSE Capital Markets Index—to spotlight companies in India's booming capital markets sector. This index is a special yardstick, tracking the returns of all firms classified under the Capital Markets segment from the BSE 1000 Index. Using the float-adjusted market capitalization method, it modestly weighs companies by their free-float market value rather than total size, making it a global-standard measure. Set with a base value of 1000 from June 18, 2018, the index will be refreshed twice a year, in June and December, keeping it fresh and relevant. What does this mean for you? Investors, fund managers, and institutions now get a laser-focused lens to watch how India's financial intermediaries perform, helping to make smarter, clearer investment choices. The BSE Capital Markets Index isn’t just a showpiece—it opens doors for smart financial products like Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), mutual funds, and benchmarks for portfolio management services. It rides the wave of the fast-growing Indian financial sector, where more investors and institutions are diving in every day. By launching this index, BSE strengthens its role as a dynamic index provider for India, stirring excitement among domestic and foreign investors keen to track and invest in the country's financial marketplace. Simply put, this new index is like a vibrant spice in the world of investing—giving sharper flavor and fresh options to everyone involved!
