Oh no, metro lovers! Monday morning turned tricky for Kolkata Metro riders. Around 8.20 am, a rake – that’s a train set – suddenly stopped working at Kavi Nazrul station in the busy Garia Bazaar area. This mechanical snag caused a ruckus on both Up and Down lines of the North-South corridor. The interruption was right in the middle of packed office hours, leaving many commuters hanging. According to a Metro Railway spokesperson, services between Shahid Khudiram and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations came to a standstill. But wait, did the metro give up completely? No way! Truncated services were quickly arranged to run between Dakshineswar and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations. This continued until about 9.25 am, helping some stranded passengers reach their destinations. The faulty rake was swiftly moved to the car shed for repairs. Once fixed, the metro resumed normal operations along the entire North-South line. Although the drama lasted just over an hour, it sure made a big buzz among daily travelers. So next time your metro is late, you know—sometimes even machines take a little break!
