Ranchi buzzed with legal energy as the third National Lok Adalat (NLA) rocked Jharkhand on Saturday! A whopping 1,60,032 pending court cases and a massive 19,01,846 pre-litigation disputes were resolved. The state's legal warriors managed to settle a jaw-dropping Rs 924.93 crore in money matters, according to Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). The grand event was inaugurated by none other than Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan. From Kerketta Auditorium at Army Cantonment in Dipatoli, he connected virtually with all 24 districts and launched the NLA with a promise of speedy and fair justice. JHALSA created 288 benches all over the state to tackle this huge load. The Chief Justice highlighted key perks of the NLA — no court fees and easy, flexible procedures. "NLA provides speedy and amicable dispute resolution," he said, stressing its role in unburdening courts and solving disputes fast. In an emotional moment, Chief Justice Chauhan handed out cheques to families of five motor accident victims, a touching reminder of justice reaching the needy. Zooming into Ranchi district court, the figures glowed brightly: 40,836 pending cases and 2,08,097 pre-litigation matters were closed with Rs 296.58 crore settled. A special compensation payout of Rs 8.70 crore went to 82 vehicle accident victims, bringing relief to many hurting families. To get this all rolling smoothly, Ranchi’s district court set up 53 benches — 34 for judicial magistrates and 19 for executive magistrates. The District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, pulled all stops, holding meetings with officials from banks, insurance companies, police, and district administration. They sent maximum notices to litigants, making sure everyone showed up and justice was done. This Lok Adalat is no ordinary court day—it’s a vibrant justice festival, turning mountains of cases into solved stories and bringing smiles where there were frowns. Jharkhand’s legal system showed how to serve justice hot, fast, and fair!
