US President Donald Trump engaged in a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday in an effort to find a resolution to the continuing conflict stemming from Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Trump is hoping to persuade Putin to agree to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire with Kyiv. While a White House official confirmed the call, they also expressed Trump's weariness and frustration with the slow progress in resolving the conflict.
