The Indian cricket team, led by the dynamic Suryakumar Yadav, is showing top-level consistency and power in the Asia Cup 2025. In a thrilling semi-final, India demolished Bangladesh by 41 runs, booking their ticket straight to the tournament final. The star of the show was none other than Kuldeep Yadav, India’s left-arm wrist-spinner, who spun a web around the Bangladeshi batsmen. After India posted a strong total of 168 for 6 in their 20 overs, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s blazing 75 runs off just 37 balls, Bangladesh looked hopeful initially. But Kuldeep had other plans. Introduced after the fast powerplay, Kuldeep struck in his very first over, removing Parvez Hossain Emon who was trying to accelerate. That wicket forced Bangladesh to rethink their chase. With clever drift and sharp dip, Kuldeep blocked the straight boundary and squeezed the batsmen with tight dot balls. His amazing spell of 3 wickets for just 18 runs in 4 overs stopped the chase dead in its tracks. Kuldeep finished the game in style during the 17th over, dismissing two batsmen on back-to-back balls. He was on a hat-trick after getting Rishad Hossain and Tanzim Hasan Sakib out in quick succession. Though the hat-trick slipped away, the pressure was too much for Bangladesh to handle. "On a night when Abhishek Sharma’s 37 ball 75 lit the fuse but India still finished at a par total, control was the currency. Kuldeep’s art gave India four overs at just 4.50 runs per over in the crucial middle phase," experts noted. This spell allowed Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya to neatly wrap up the game in the final overs. Celebrating Kuldeep’s brilliance, India’s performance analyst Hari Prasad Mohan said, "The impact player goes to someone who showed serious skills with the ball. In modern T20 cricket, not many players display spin, drift and dip with remarkable consistency. So, the award goes to Kuldeep Yadav." Kuldeep humbly accepted the medal, saying, "Hardik and Bumrah were brilliant with the ball. As spinners, our job was to control the middle overs and pick the middle order wickets. We did really well. Overall the intensity was good. Hope to carry the intensity into the next game." The video of the award ceremony also shows captain Suryakumar Yadav clapping and looking on with pride at Kuldeep’s game-changing spell. Next up, the Men in Blue face Sri Lanka in the Super Fours, before the grand Asia Cup final on 28th September.
