Bhubaneswar is buzzing after Shreemayee Mishra, the former general secretary of BJD, was suspended. Not one to stay silent, she struck back hard, accusing the party leaders of ignoring her repeated calls for respect. Mishra shared on social media how she once saw the party boss as a father figure. But things changed when she felt insulted by a rival and saw her leader stay quiet. "I considered the party leader like a father," she said. "But when my honour was questioned and he remained silent, that was the turning point in my life." She said she had already stepped away from party duties since early 2024 and challenged BJD to show any proof that she renewed her membership. This adds spice to an already hot political drama. On the other hand, senior BJD MLA Pramila Mallik stood firm, defending the party's move. She said, "Many leaders come and go, but only those who follow party discipline remain under the party president’s leadership." She also accused Mishra of using the party just to get power. Adding fuel to the fire, Manmath Routray, a BJD nominee who lost from Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat, was even harsher. He claimed Mishra had grown used to the perks like postings, allowances, and status. "Shreemayaee had grown accustomed to privileges — postings, allowances and status — and became mentally unsettled when those were withdrawn," he said. This political storm shows no sign of calming down. The fiery exchanges reveal deeper tensions inside BJD, making Odisha's political air thick with drama and suspense.
