Field workers conducting caste-based enumeration of Scheduled Castes in Bengaluru are facing challenges due to lack of awareness among citizens. Enumerators are spending varying durations at households, with technical difficulties and weather conditions adding to the hurdles. The survey overseen by the Justice HN Nagamohan Das committee aims to allocate internal reservation for SCs. Citizens in apartment complexes are reportedly unaware of the survey's purpose, leading to delays and refusals in participation. Enumerators, mostly teachers from government schools, have encountered instances of non-SC residents abusing them and facing locked houses during survey hours. To address these issues, the survey is now employing anganwadi workers and ASHA workers to collect data. Despite initial setbacks, the survey has made progress in surveying SC families and non-SC households in Bengaluru.
