Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Urges City Corporations to Join Hands for Faster, Smarter Development

October 20, 2025

Get ready, Bengaluru! Maheshwar Rao, the chief commissioner of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), has thrown down the gauntlet to all city corporations. At a lively progress review meeting held at the Bengaluru south city corporation office in Jayanagar, Rao made it clear that teamwork is the secret sauce for success. He said, "If any development project spans across two or more city corporation limits, officials must coordinate with each other and ensure its timely completion." Rao stressed that every official must know exactly what they have to do. "Each officer must be assigned clear responsibilities, and a system should be put in place for submitting regular progress and performance reports," he ordered. This means no more confusion, no crossing wires—just a clean, systematic plan for better Bengaluru! But that’s not all! Our man Rao also highlighted the need to fix manpower shortages. Officials have been told to find out which posts are empty and send proposals to fill them. manpower is the engine of progress, after all. No dull papers piled up, please! Rao pushed hard for a full switch to the e-office system. "All physical documents should gradually be converted into digital format, and proposals, approvals, and file movements must be managed through the e-office platform," he instructed. This digital drive will make work faster, smoother, and transparent. To keep a hawk’s eye on projects, nodal officers will be appointed in each corporation area. These officers will act as bridges between the city corporations and the GBA coordination division, sharing regular updates on project progress. Ending on a powerful note, Rao said that only with "collective effort and accountability at every level" can Bengaluru’s dream of a smarter, greener city become a reality. So, Bengaluru, are you ready to watch this exciting transformation unfold? The GBA team certainly is!
