Congress Leader Blasts YSRCP & TDP Coalitions: Debt, Crime and Failed Promises Rock Andhra Pradesh

October 20, 2025

In a fiery press conference held on Sunday in Vijayawada, Congress leader and chief spokesperson N. Thulasi Reddy did not hold back. He launched a strong attack on both the YSRCP government and the TDP-led coalition ruling Andhra Pradesh. "Both are destructive forces," he declared boldly. Mr. Thulasi Reddy painted a grim picture of the YSRCP government, saying it had left the state buried in debt, crime, liquor, drugs, and cannabis problems. But, he said, the situation worsened under the current coalition government, which took a massive loan of ₹1.5 lakh crore in just 16 months. To add to citizens' woes, electricity users were slapped with a shocking ₹15,480 crore worth of surcharges. He strongly condemned the government's liquor policy, which allows “four shops and 40 belt shops per mandal.” He warned that gambling and drug abuse were spreading like wildfire, even in schools. Welfare promises under the Super Six scheme – including unemployment benefits, aid for girls, and early pensions for marginalized groups – remained unfulfilled, Mr. Thulasi Reddy charged. Farmers, the backbone of Andhra Pradesh, faced a tough time too. They suffered from low crop prices, expensive fertilizer costs, and shortages of urea. The Congress leader also slammed the privatization of government medical colleges. "This move would snatch away the chance of medical education from poor but meritorious students," he said. He added that the famous Aarogyasri health scheme had collapsed completely. Further woes piled up with over ₹6,400 crore in unpaid fee reimbursement and scholarship dues to students. Taking a swipe at both major parties, he said, "TDP’s ‘Red Book’ and YSRCP’s ‘Digital Book’ are both burning the State." Mr. Thulasi Reddy proudly claimed that only Congress could rescue Andhra Pradesh and bring true development and welfare. In this heated political battlefield, the Congress stands ready to fight for the people, promising a better tomorrow for every citizen of Andhra Pradesh.
