EU Slaps Sanctions on Three Indian Firms for Supporting Russian Military Tech

October 24, 2025

In a sizzling move, the European Union has added fiery new sanctions in its 19th round to tighten the noose around Russia! On Thursday, the EU announced penalties on 45 companies rumored to be sneaking military support to Russia — and guess what? Three of those firms are proudly Indian! These companies allegedly help Russia dodge export controls on high-tech tools and machines, playing a stealthy role in boosting the Russian military. The EU’s official statement said, “The European Council has identified 45 new entities directly supporting Russia's military and industrial complex by enabling the circumvention of export restrictions on computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools, microelectronics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other advanced technology items.” Meaning these firms are helping Russia get their hands on gadgets and tech that can power up its defense capabilities. The EU isn’t holding back — it will tighten export restrictions on these targets for what they call “dual-use goods” (items that can be used for both civilian and military purposes). This means these companies are now under strict watch to prevent their technology from upgrading Russia’s arms. Out of these 45 tough nuts, 17 are from countries other than Russia. The distribution is quite intriguing: 12 companies are in China (including Hong Kong), 3 in India, and 2 in Thailand. The Indian stars in this list are Aerotrust Aviation Private Limited, Ascend Aviation India Private Limited, and Shree Enterprises. While Indian officials have not yet spoken out about this spicy EU decision, this marks a strong signal about global watchdogs keeping their eyes wide open. Will these firms face serious hurdles? For sure. The EU’s sanctions aim to squeeze Russia economically in response to its invasion of Ukraine, making it harder for Moscow to find friendly hands to help. Stay tuned as this international drama unfolds with more twists and sanctions to come!
