Bihar's first phase of assembly elections witnessed a record-breaking voter turnout of over 65%, making history in the state! The credit goes to the sharp and proactive policing led by Bihar's Director General of Police (DGP), Vinay Kumar, who believes strong community bonds and Election Commission efforts played a magic role. "Proactive policing, improved police-community relations, developmental works carried out by the state government, and the initiatives taken by the EC are the main reasons behind the historic turnout," he told PTI with pride. What made this possible? The police identified potential criminals and their hideouts well before polling day. With well-planned deployment and quick action, the police earned the trust of voters and kept the atmosphere peaceful. Shockingly, not a single act of violence stirred the voters on November 6! The police are all set and buzzing for the second phase on November 11. Around 4 lakh security personnel have been spread across all 122 constituencies for smooth, fair, and violence-free elections. Meanwhile, strong security continues in the areas that voted in the first round to maintain order. Special attention is on districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj, which share borders with Nepal. "Strict vigil is being maintained in districts bordering Nepal. We will not allow anyone to take the law into their hands," said DGP Vinay Kumar. He assured that Election Commission guidelines are strictly followed across Bihar. There’s more to cheer! For the first time ever, no security personnel were airlifted by helicopter to remote polling booths, thanks to vastly improved road infrastructure even in rural areas. All personnel reached their assigned duties by road. Moreover, there is no need to shift any polling booths this election cycle as Maoist activities have drastically fallen in Bihar, making the elections safer than before. The Quick Response Teams (QRTs), including commandos from the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Special Task Force (STF), stand ready to handle any emergencies or security incidents instantly. In sum, Bihar stands as a shining example of how firm policing, strong public ties, and smart planning can ensure peaceful and enthusiastic voter participation. The countdown for Phase Two has begun, and the state is buzzing with hope and excitement!
