Election Commission Lets Booth Agents Submit 50 Voter Forms Daily Before Draft Rolls
November 17, 2025
The Election Commission has waved a green flag for booth level agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties to submit up to 50 voter registration forms daily before the draft electoral rolls are published. Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik shared this update on Sunday, adding an important twist — BLAs must personally verify and vouch for each form's details. "He/she has personally verified the particulars of the form and is satisfied that they are correct," said the CEO.
But the magic doesn't stop there! The booth level officers will digitise this verified information and send it to the local Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). Then, the ERO will check each form carefully and act promptly on any issues.
The CEO stressed, "The active participation of the BLAs of the recognised political parties, who are among the major stakeholders of elections, is required for the successful completion of the SIR exercise."
Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu's Perumbakkam area within Sholinganallur Assembly constituency, 17,743 enumeration forms have been handed out to urban voters living in resettlement tenements. This region has a total of 22,658 registered electors.
The CEO's office cleared up rumors flying on social media. Some claimed that many voters were missing from records because the "system" couldn’t find them. To tackle this, extra officials have been assigned to help Booth Level Officers, and the distribution of forms to the remaining voters will soon be done.
This step ensures that every eligible voter, no matter where they live, gets a chance to join the electoral list in time for the next election. With these strong moves, the Election Commission is cranking up the wheels of democracy, one verified form at a time!
