Centre and States Team Up to Unlock AI Power for Smarter Government Policies
November 17, 2025
NEW DELHI: The Centre and states gathered in a lively discussion on Saturday about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can spice up government decision making and policy creation. This two-day event, called the Chintan Shivir, took place in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, where the department of expenditure led talks about AI’s bright future in policy forming. The Finance Ministry shared this exciting news in a statement on Sunday.
During the Chintan Shivir, officials brainstormed on ways AI can help design, launch, and approve Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs). They also heard the states’ views on these schemes, especially since many are set to end in March 2026 and will need decisions on whether to continue under the fifteenth Finance Commission cycle.
The event, held on November 14 and 15, 2025, brought together sharp minds from the department of expenditure and finance departments of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, and others. With all these top financial minds in one room, the talk was buzzing with fresh ideas about using AI to make government work smarter and faster.
Could AI be the magic wand to transform how India plans and executes its policies? The voices from states and the Centre show hope and eagerness to explore this tech marvel, aiming to serve citizens better with clearer, data-driven decisions.
In short, this Chintan Shivir was not just a meeting but a glimpse into a future where technology and governance dance hand in hand to create effective policies!
