Balaji Nagar’s Main Road to Inner Ring Road Extension Turns Into a Pothole Nightmare!
November 27, 2025
Welcome to Balaji Nagar in Puzhuthivakkam, a bustling locality with nearly 45 streets! But hold on—the main road, 37th Street, that connects residents to the Inner Ring Road Extension, is a bumpy, pothole-filled horror show. This once smooth thoroughfare, key to linking Velachery Main Road and GST Road, is now dotted with huge craters that make daily travel a painful challenge. Two-wheeler riders, especially parents rushing their kids to school, face a tough journey every morning.
What’s causing this mess? The residents point to a nasty leak in the water pipeline at the junction of 37th and 36th Street. The overflowing water doesn’t just wet the streets; it’s wrecking the road’s surface big time! S. Kumar, a local resident, expressed frustration, saying the road condition has only worsened because the Chennai Corporation officials are not taking the required steps to fix it.
“Despite our repeated complaints, our pleas have only fallen on deaf ears,” the residents lament. Sadly, this neglect turns a vital street into a daily struggle for many.
But hope glimmers! A senior official from Chennai Corporation said, "Steps would be taken to repave the 37th Street once the northeast monsoon withdraws as the tender for restoring the road has been called for."
So, the pothole nightmare might end soon, but for now, Balaji Nagar’s main road remains a tricky path for its brave daily travelers.
