Punjab government recently appointed Aam Aadmi Party leader Jasvir Singh, also known as Jassi Sekhon, as a member of the Punjab Food Commission. Sekhon, who hails from Sangrur, contested in the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections from the Dhuri constituency. In the 2022 elections, Sekhon stood as the covering candidate for Bhagwant Mann and later won the Dhuri seat. The Punjab Food Commission aims to implement the National Food Security Act to provide food security to the people.
