Sabarimala temple’s golden mystery just got spicier! On Tuesday, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) decided to suspend B Murari, the deputy commissioner of Haripad Devaswom. Why? Because he wrongly noted the gold-plated coverings on the Dwarapalaka idols as mere copper panels in his report dated July 17, 2019. Back then, Murari worked as the administrative officer at Sabarimala. This suspension comes just a day after the Kerala High Court set up a special investigation team (SIT) to dig deep into the puzzling difference in the weight of the gold-plated copper coverings on these idols. Who ordered the investigation? The High Court wants the truth out! TDB president P S Prasanth didn’t stop there. He revealed that the warranty for the idols, which was in the name of Unnikrishnan Potti—the sponsor of the gold plating—will be canceled at Smart Creations, a Chennai-based firm where the golden panels were crafted. He also gave a warning: “Further action will be taken against more retired officials once the final vigilance report is received.” The board is racing against time to clear the air before the big Mandalakala-Makaravilakku festival season. No one wants any scandal during the holy days! But here’s the twist: Murari Babu, the suspended officer, told reporters with firm words, "I am an obedient employee of the board. My job was only to provide a preliminary report. I am not a party to what happened later." Drama, allegations, and high stakes—Sabarimala is buzzing as the board and court join forces to uncover where the golden truth lies!
