A Qatar Court has reduced the death sentence given to eight ex-Indian Navy personnel in an alleged case of espionage, said the Ministry of External Affairs. India had expressed shock over the initial verdict and had been working to secure the release of the Indian nationals.

The Kerala government and various temple organizations are contemplating challenging the High Court’s order prohibiting the use of fireworks during odd hours in religious places. State Minister K Radhakrishnan stated that it would be challenging to conduct temple festivals without fireworks. The court directed the police to seize illegally stored crackers and warned of contempt proceedings for violating the order.
