Based on the ASI findings, it can be said that a large Hindu temple once existed at the site of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, as stated by the Hindu side in the dispute. The ASI report reveals that the mosque’s western wall is part of the Hindu temple, with 32 Hindu temple inscriptions found on pillars. The survey was conducted after claims that the mosque was constructed over a pre-existing temple.
