The BJP criticized the action while the minister alleges it was registered to expose appeasement of Hamas by Rahul Gandhi and Pinarayi Vijayan. The FIR was filed by the Kerala police in connection with Chandrasekhar’s social media posts on the Kochi blasts and a Hamas leader’s virtual address at an Islamist event in Malappuram district. BJP Kerala chief, K Surendran, accused the government of supporting divisive forces.

Bomb blasts occurred at a gathering of Christian sect Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kerala’s Kalamassery. Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his colleagues were in New Delhi to participate in a CP-M central committee dharna against the Israeli attack in Gaza. Vijayan called it an unfortunate incident and assured a thorough investigation. CPI-M state secretary MV Govindan speculated that the blasts might be an attempt to divert attention from the solidarity for Palestine cause. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor condemned the violence.
