Maruti Suzuki remains undeterred by the diminishing demand for compact cars and asserts that the category is not disappearing. Despite a decline in sales, the company maintains a high market share in small cars and believes demand will return with a pick-up in the economy. Maruti Suzuki is also considering introducing electric mini cars.

Hyundai Motor India recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in September, with total wholesales reaching 71,641 units. Domestic sales rose 9% to 54,241 units, and exports increased by 29% to 17,400 units. The growing demand for SUVs and a strong performance during the festive season were key factors driving sales.

The Indian automobile industry is optimistic about achieving record sales of 4 million cars this year, driven by robust demand and the upcoming festive season. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, MG Motor, and Mercedes-Benz have reported strong sales of both premium and new models, with SUVs contributing to the growth. Experts predict that the industry’s volumes may cross 3 million units by September and add an additional one million in the last quarter.
