The Supreme Court grants Union Minister Nisith Pramanik interim protection from arrest in an attempt to murder case registered against him in West Bengal. The court also directs the West Bengal government not to take any coercive action against him until the matter is heard in the high court.

Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud celebrated Christmas with lawyers by singing carols and dedicating them to the soldiers who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the challenging working conditions of soldiers in winter. The event was organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association.
