The cleaning of the Wazukhana area of the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi has begun under strict security arrangements. The Supreme Court allowed the cleaning of the entire area after Hindu women petitioners sought direction for cleaning the ‘wazukhana’ where an alleged ‘Shivling’ was found. Heavy police deployment has been made in the area and the cleaning workers are being checked before entering the Mosque. The cleaning work will be done under the supervision of the District Magistrate.
