The Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University has introduced a new course that provides training in traditional combat sports. The course includes training in Malla Kambha, Kalaripayattu, traditional wrestling, etc. The program is in collaboration with the Karnataka Sahasa Kala Academy of Ramanagara and Hassan Raghu. The inauguration of the course was done by music director Hamsalekha, who emphasized the importance of blending martial arts and traditional combat sports with academics.
