India’s Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has unveiled the National Cooperative Database, aimed at promoting and strengthening cooperative societies across the country. The database will provide crucial information on various aspects of cooperatives, enabling policymakers to make informed decisions. This initiative is expected to boost the cooperative sector and contribute to the overall growth of the Indian economy.
Total 24,470 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are functioning as Common Service Centres (CSC) in the country, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said in Parliament. That apart, 28,648 PACS are operating as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) in 18 states and Union Territories for ensuring easy accessibility of fertilizers, pesticides and related services to farmers in the country, he said.
The cooperative export body NCEL has received approval to export 14,92,800 tonnes of non-Basmati rice to 16 countries and 50,000 tonnes of sugar to two countries, according to Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. The National Cooperative Exports Ltd (NCEL), established earlier this year, has been registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act.
