CPI-M leadership also condemned the state government, calling the event a farce. Both parties expressed doubts about the investments attracted through the summit.

Bomb blasts occurred at a gathering of Christian sect Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kerala’s Kalamassery. Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his colleagues were in New Delhi to participate in a CP-M central committee dharna against the Israeli attack in Gaza. Vijayan called it an unfortunate incident and assured a thorough investigation. CPI-M state secretary MV Govindan speculated that the blasts might be an attempt to divert attention from the solidarity for Palestine cause. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor condemned the violence.
