The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) has asserted that both the Indian and Pakistani governments made attempts to influence Canada’s federal elections in 2019 and 2021. According to CSIS, the Indian government allegedly conducted clandestine activities and provided illicit financial support to candidates. CSIS claims that India is targeting Canadian elections and diaspora communities to align Canada’s positions with India’s interests. The claims were denied by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
