Five persons were killed and nearly 15 injured in the violence that erupted during an anti-encroachment drive in Haldwani. The clash, which involved arson and vandalism, was pre-planned. Curfew and shoot-at-sight orders are in place in the town. Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
