BSP president Mayawati has called for a high-level inquiry into the death of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. Ansari died of cardiac arrest in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. Chandra Shekhar Aazad, founder of Bhim Army and president of Aazad Samaj Party, has also demanded a CBI investigation into Ansari’s death. Ansari’s family has alleged that he was subjected to slow poisoning in jail. Ansari had multiple criminal cases pending against him and was on the list of gangsters issued by Uttar Pradesh Police.
