The Supreme Court has quashed the defamation complaint against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav over his alleged ‘only Gujaratis can be thugs’ remark. Yadav had filed an affidavit withdrawing his remark. The court had earlier stayed the proceedings in the criminal defamation complaint and issued notice to the complainant.

The Bombay High Court has sought assistance from Maharashtra’s Advocate General on the legal issues pertaining to Rahul Gandhi’s defamation petition. The high court also extended the interim relief granted to Gandhi. The court noted that the case raises important questions of law and scheduled further hearing for October 17.
