Vijayakant, the popular Kollywood actor and founder of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), died at the age of 71 after a long battle with illness. He had a successful career in the Tamil film industry alongside Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and later ventured into politics, becoming the leader of opposition. Known for his philanthropic activities, he gained a significant following and was admired for his down-to-earth persona. His funeral will be held with full state honours in Chennai.
